Christchurch, New Zealand got hit by a powerful 6.3 earthquake this evening. This happened couple of hours ago so the damage if any is not known but one can gauge the situation on the ground by looking at tweets from the region. Looking at the tweets showing up on the map, it looks like tweets are coming in from points north of Christchurch, which might suggest widespread power outages around Christchurch and towards South.
