Geoeye has released satellite imagery of Osama Bin Laden’s hideout in Pakistan. This image was taken by IKONOS satellite on May 2, 2011 at 10:51 a.m. local time while flying 423 miles above the Earth. The arrow points to (I think) the helicopter which crashed in the compound during the raid.
(thanks to Mike Elgan for the tip)

I got the idea for this post from CNet’s Stephen Shankland.

Here you go. Driving Directions from:
London, UK
Paris, France.
Frankfurt, Germany.
Mumbai, India.
New Delhi, India.

Use the coordinates 34.169186,73.242658 in Google Maps to see if Driving Directions is available from your location

This is my 1st attempt in mapping Tweets in Google Earth. The tweets on this Google Earth mashup shows latest tweets tagged with “tornado” from southern United States. The map animates through latest tweets tagged with keyword “tornado”.

Wanted to share this image of devastation in The Rosedale Court housing community in Tuscaloosa, Alabama caused by a deadly tornado on April 28th, 2011. Compare this with the pre-tornado image of the same location in Google Earth. Wow!!

Check out the Royal Wedding Route on Google Maps. Thanks to Keir Clarke of GoogleMapsMania for providing me the list of coordinates. I modified the Royal Wedding Tweet map and added couple of buttons on the map (Tweets and Route) which when selected will switch between latest tweets from UK and “Royal Wedding Route”

The wedding of Prince William of Wales and Kate Middleton is scheduled to take place at Westminster Abbey on 29 April 2011. UK must be buzzing with excitement and some of the excitement can be seen in the tweets originating out of UK. Check out this Google Maps Mashup of Royal Wedding Tweets from UK. The map animates through the latest tweets tagged with #royalwedding. This map which does not have any banner can be embedded in your website/blog. The “Royal Wedding Tweet Map” would look like this: (code is below the map)

RMS Titanic a passenger liner sailed on its maiden and final voyage from Southampton, England on April 10, 1912. It sank on April 15, 1912 after hitting a iceberg in the middle of Atlantic Ocean.

There’s a 3d model of the Titanic wreckage viewable in Google Earth. Check out this new video I created of the Titanic wreckage in Google Earth. Back in 2009 I had created another Titanic video, but I think this one is way better.

Corruption is rampant in India with quite a few politicians making a fortune. Looking at twitter stream of tweets tagged with “Corruption” one can gauge the extent of corruption in India. Thanks to Social Media like twitter and facebook, corruption incidents from across India are being reported by common folks.

Check out my Google Maps Mashup of corruption tweets from India. The map animates through the latest tweets tagged with corruption. This map which does not have any banner/advertisements can be embedded in your website/blog. The “India Corruption Tweet Map” would look like this: (code is below the map)

I have created a version of (localized for Japan) Japan Tweet Map which can be embedded in your website or blog (no banner/advertisements). The map animates through the latest tweets tagged with earthquake or tsunami or help. These tweets originate from within 800 kms of Tokyo. The Japan Tweet Map would look like this:

Here’s a map I put together of Geotagged YouTube Videos from Japan (“Earthquake/Tsunami”) from within 800 km radius of Tokyo, Japan.

There is “Prev” and “Next” buttons below the video which will take you to the previous or next videos.
